What Do You Do With Twenty Dead Chickens...

...that were grass-fed,  farm fresh, processed and frozen, ready to feed the family? Oh, let me mention that the real issue surrounds the fact that it was recently discovered (today) that as of ten days ago the freezer was unplugged for a "moment" that actually has lasted well, until today? *ugh*

Since I had already been on my "broomstick" earlier, Jenna sweetly came in and suggested that I "be prayed up", which is code for, "This is bad, you're not going to like it..." . So it was handled calmly, with a "meyh" and I decided that if my heavenly Father cares for the sparrows, He'll care for us too. And perhaps, freezers are over-rated.

Just another day on the farm...

Oh, Kathy. I'm so sorry to hear that. But you're right... God cares for you and has it under control! (I love how your daughter prepped you! I think I'll teach my girls that, too!)

1st off, I'd cry like a baby. For real.
Then, do as Jenna "suggested"!
Strangely enough, nearly the same thing happened to Michelle a couple of weeks ago, tho it was only a couple of days(?) before they noticed. Not a complete loss, as much of their stuff was at least still cold.
I still go down in the basement and check the freezer doors on occasion. We lost everything years ago when my brother in law unplugged the freezer to use the outlet for something else, and forgot to plug it back in.
Hey! I know! How about some flea market therapy??? I think I am going to Trufant this Thursday with a friend! Then we're gonna stop at Angie's! Wanta come along?
Love,
Cindy

Oooooohhhh.....I'm SO sorry! And yes, sometimes I feel freezers are over-rated as well. And then someone shows up with a processed cow for us and well, whataya do but stick it all in the freezer? I do good to get some preserves and pickles canned, I can't imagine canning a whole cow!! Or twenty chickens!!! Sounds like you have a daughter in tune with the Lord and in tune with her mama!!! Praise the Lord!!!

{{{{HUGS}}}} sounds like you need some. I'm always checking the freezer, as this is where all of our beef, pork and chicken is kept. I'd can most of it but Dh doesn't appreciate canned meat, so a freezer it is*sigh*

Keep you chin up and eyes focused and the good Lord will take care of the rest.

Take care and more HUGS!
Blessings,
Kelle

I'm so sorry to hear this:( But maybe you can cook what you can in the oven, crockpot, or boil some...then cook casseroles, chicken n dumplins, chicken pot pie, mexican chicken, chicken noodle soup:) I'm sure there's many more then you can freeze them and next time you're too tired to cook, pull one of your tasty already cooked dishes out and supper's done:) Hope you have a blessed day!

I know that isn't what we wnat to hear when in the midlle of something like this... God is always good and I am certain, something will be learned and this will end up as a blessing,(Easy for me to say, right??:))in some way. Yes, pray up, every day, for we are weak BUT HE is strong! God Bless you all! In His Grip,

Many years ago a young girl was raising Angora rabbits as a 4-H project. The young girl lived in the Central San Joaquin Valley of California where it gets quite warm in the summer. This makes raising Angora rabbits (or any for that matter) a challenge to keep those bunnies cool.

That is accomplished by freezing water bottles (the liter size or better) in what else? The family freezer.

The young girl went about her chores, bringing the rabbits great comfort. Turned off the lights and went in the house.

The next morning the young girl's mother went out to milk the goats and passed by the upright freezer with it's door standing open. Evidently a bottle put back in the freezer was left in a position that kept the door from shutting tightly and it swung open.

Did the mother of the young girl mention that the day before the family received a whole beef to feed them through the winter? Opps.

For those of you who are wondering. The family did well over the winter but with much less beef. The young girl? She is now 33 and the Momma of two young girls. Please note neither of them raise rabbits.

Oh no - I would have definitely cried.
I always worry whenever I unplug my freezer for a moment that I'll forget.
I love the way your daughter prepared you - that is so beautiful.
Have a lovely day & I hope you come up with a solution.

To bad I can't hop in the truck and put some of my chickens that need butchering and bring them to you. Oh man would I like that..........then I wouldn't have to go to the college and work. Yes.......I am talkin myself into it!!!!
