Perspective Is On the Way!

More encouragement for the home educating momma who might be feeling overwhelmed and unprepared for the  upcoming year...

APPLIED KNOWLEDGE

"He is not the best student who reads the most books, but he who meditates the most upon them; he shall not learn most of divinity who hears the greatest number of sermons, but he who meditates the most devoutly upon what he does hear; nor shall he be so profound a scholar who takes down ponderous volumes one after the other, as he who, reading little by little, precept upon precept, and line upon line, digests what he learns, and assimilates each sentiment to his heart by meditation."

-- Charles Spurgeon

Not only so, knowledge is like manure in that if you don't use it, it just stinks...

So the headnote, "Applied Knowledge," is very appropriate.

Kathy .... you have an AMAZING blog. What a terrific use of your writing talent. (Although so is cleaning the comforter, tossing the pajamas, and canning experiments -- all with a joyful smile!) Yeah right! Anyway ... I've got you marked as a favorite and look forward to seeing your gifts in use -- especially as I tread this new path the Lord's got me on. I'll probably email you ... (have your address from Fran) as I would like (again) the name of the artist who did the grandma and cows (hummmm ... can I relate?). Oh and by the way --- keep the "Midlife Meltdown" :) I got another. She also has a new "reduced price" one out specifically for woman. Have a blessed day! Thank you for the Spurgeon quote and the breath of fresh air you unknowingly sent my way. Wendy Impellizzeri

Thanks for sharing this quote - the contrasts describe two of my children so much - one reads as quickly as possible- one slowly, but thinks about all she reads.
