Have you ever made a giant mistake that you regret, even days later? I'm referring to regrets of a serious nature, such as: passing up that one perfect thing at a garage sale... that was just what you needed... at a dirt cheap price?
I'm not sure what I was thinking, or wasn't thinking, but imagine a farmhouse screen door, just like the picture except black. Perfect for my porch entry, perfect for my farm, perfect for the summer breezes, and I'm quite certain it would have banged shut ever-so-perfectly.
Perhaps I was trying to be frugal (???), or perhaps I had actually forgotten about that particular location when I called home for measurements, or perhaps I was simply paralyzed with indecision yet again...
...in any case, by the time my wits returned, I was driving down the highway, couldn't reach my cell phone, and when I returned, someone else had the presence of mind to scoop that gorgeous screen door up without thinking twice.

I fear my comment will only make the regret even more bitter, but have you priced these new? I wanted some for my house this summer so that we could avoid using the a/c. They started around $250 for a plain jane, no frills model, to around $750 for a lovely victorian style. We bought a vinyl door at Home Depot and was sorely disappointed. So my husband is just about finished with two high quality wood screen doors he has made for around $75 each (cheaper than one vinyl door!). It has taken a while (he should be nicknamed Mr. Perfectionist), but they'll last for many years to come... and I can't wait to hear it close just like the one in my memory...
I'm sorry you missed out on that farmhouse door...I loved the one that you show pictured in the photograph. I think I had a moment like that today...I saw some beautiful, pristine canning jars that I wanted to buy at a yard sale..and didn't...but that's okay. There are yard sales aplenty..and I'll find something I like better at a better price next time. I hope that you'll find some doors that you like better at another sale :) :) :) Thanks for sharing this. Hugs from Oregon, Heather :)
Yes, this has happened to me too :( However, I was very lucky when a crewl work piece was still at the thrift shop when I went back weeks later after it ate and ate at me. I have no idea why I ever hesitated buying it. It's on my blog header now and I adore it.
Aww, what a fun door ~ so sorry you missed out ~ God must have another one out there for you!
~mom to Jenna's penpal Abby F. in Iowa =) It's been fun to see more of your family since she found your blogs!
Indecision...something I unfortunately seem to struggle with all-too-often! I'm learning to turn many of those decisions over to Kyle since I can't seem to settle on "what is right"!?! Somewhere there's a fine line between frugality and sensibility...I haven't seemed to have found it yet! :o)
Blessings to you~

P.S.) I've always wanted one of those slamming screen doors just like the green one that used to be on my grandma's house!
I LOVE the idea of putting the screen door on the pantry. I really like how they used a fork as the handle. So cute.
So sorry you missed out on that door! You made it sound just as I would describe it myself! Sounds so romantic and perfect!!! How I wish for you that you were able to obtain that door. Maybe another better one will come along?? There has to be one or another out there just waitng for the right time! God knows....
God Bless you!
I am so sorry!
Maybe God will have a better one coming soon! 8)

Awwwww Kathy, I am so sorry for you! That would make me sad also. I have seen the pic you have up of the red screen door and have loved it!That is a major bummer! The nice part though was you were trying to be very thoughtful with your monies.
Hope your day was a snuggy one with your family!
Blessings, Linda
