This is quick tonight, then I'm off to bed. Yet again we are fighting a virus that I'm beginning to wonder if it's H1N1. I don't really know, but some reading I've done indicates it lasts for months and can travel from system to system. That would describe our winter: a three week cycle of illness (x 10 people) which is equal to a momma totally wiped out.
On the surface the day seems wasted, but even as I struggle to meet needs, I guess there is opportunity to serve with a sweet spirit (very fragile, I might add), or get grumpy and irritable. I was thankful for the Holy Spirit keeping my focus on serving sweetly, though I felt myself slipping as the requests and voices continued with a distinct repetition and my head pounded incessantly. So there! Every day, every situation is an opportunity to live in grace and show the love of Jesus!
Desperate for relief, I found a recipe for SORE THROAT SPRAY. I made a small bottle and will see how effective it is.
SORE THROAT SPRAY
Mix approximately equal parts of warm water, raw Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother) and honey to sweeten. There's no science with measuring, though the first attempt brought tears to my eyes! With a little more water and honey, all three littles were clamoring for some of the "spicey" spray!
By biggest problem was finding a little spray bottle! What I have is okay, but I thought it might be nice to have a few bottles available. Maybe each person should have their own??
Blessings and prayers for all my new friends~
Kathy

You can buy sore throat spray at the store and reuse the bottle.:) I know that doesn't help immediately but they are great.:)
So sorry your family has been unwell!! I know you must be exhausted- it does take a tremendous amount of strength and patience to nurse- not to mention endurance.
I am praying for you to our heavenly Father.
"Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."Is.41:10
That verse popped into my head:)...take heart!God bless

I hope that everyone recovers quickly and that you can get some much needed rest...
I think I am going to make some Sore Throat Spray~thank you for sharing the recipe!
Wishing you a blessed & restful weekend
Stopping by and appreciate your sore throat recipe.
My Mom 's recipe is to gargle with warm salt water.
About a tsp of salt stirred into warm water does the trick.
DON'T drink...just gargle
God bless you all,
d from homehaven
Oh no! So sorry everyone is sick! I will pray for you and your family! Another tip for a sore throat is to put some salt (sea salt is best) in a glass of warm water and gargle (don't swallow). It works wonders!
God bless! Maellen

My dear friend,
Sickness is not what we want in our home. Here in the cottage, my husband, my daughter and my middle son are quite ill. Bronchitis.
It is not easy trying to disinfect everything in their path :) and making enough tea to sink a ship, lol! But I now the late nights of staying up and trying to soothe their sore throats, their coughs that won't go away...
My prayers are with you dear one. Do not think that it is H1N1...do not borrow trouble. Bacteria goes quickly in the winter and when the windows are closed for a long time.
Do not despair...Rest...this too shall pass.

We were pretty sick with H1N1. Noah was really sick with it. We started taking Cod liver oil because I read a particular vitamin, (I can't remember which one now) was helpful in fighting the virus and C.L.O. was high in it. We all seemed to get over it pretty well and haven't been sick since. We buy the Carlson's Norwegian lemon flavored from vitacost. I give the kids a tsp. a day. Grandma's orders;) Hope you feel better soon.
Hi there :)
My daughter reads your daughters blog and I linked from there when she said you were all sick again.
There is much you can do to ward off sickness and get well faster when you do get sick with this kind of stuff. I guess I sometimes think everyone knows it.
I will try to list some here and write another blog post on my page for it.
Cod Liver Oil (contains Vit A & D)
Vitamin C
Garlic (I rub behind the ears too)
Cayenne
Coconut Oil
Apple Cider Vinegar (for terrible sore throat soak a cloth and put it on the outside)
Honey and Lemon
Echinacea and Goldenseal
Ginger
Cinnamon
Sage
Elderberry
There are more ...
For the spray bottles, I have bought them at Discount School Supply, but you can probably get them from one of the online herb places, like Mountain Rose or San Francisco Herb. I also use them to make a spray for the air.
You have a beautiful family.
