Forgiveness

"...and if he repents, forgive him." Luke 17:3

There is something so incredibly cleansing in the process of forgiveness. When the pain of having offended a loved one surpasses standing on my rights... or defending my pride... when the fractured relationship can no longer be borne...when I finally yield to the Holy Spirit of God, there is that moment for genuine repentance when the tears of grief flow. That moment of humbling myself, of asking for forgiveness, of saying how really and truly sorry I am, is a divine moment when God intervenes on my behalf and the tears of sorrow are turned to joy. Confession is made, repentance is sought, forgiveness is given, restoration is established and love and fellowship flow unhindered. And we recommit~to try again, to speak the truth in love, to tenderly care for one another...
