"...that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers (keepers of the home), obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed." Titus 2:4-5
I am not ready for August. Soon I hope to post pictures of summer on the farm, but the immediate crisis is, summer is fast...ending!! Oi! As a home~educating momma, I feel the pressure rising, especially as I evaluate what I have (or have not) accomplished this summer. If we were being honest with eachother, I'd confess that I am not nearly as organized as I long to be, and I suffer from a deplorable inability to make a decision. After all, it has to be right the first time...no mistakes...there's no going back, there's no making up for lost time...
This may resonate with some of you (thank you) as you plan for the fall. While I know that there will be "mistakes" or "regrets" or changing of plans, curriculum, etc., and it's not always bad, I don't always believe that. Perhaps I've lost a little time in some areas, but God is good. This verse in Titus is such a blessing to me as I am reminded again as to what is important. At the end of the day, have I been an example to my children? Are the girls desiring to be a wife and mother because of what they see in me? Are the boys placing high value on the biblical definition of what characterizes a Godly young woman?
"She knew how good it would be to stay at home again, to help with the housework and to do the chores and work in the garden..."
Little Town on the Prairie~Laura Ingalls Wilder
OK, dear mothers, persevere! Stay focused on what is good and right and true so that we are not guilty of blaspheming the Word of God.
"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart."
Galatians 6:9

I really loved this post... I don't have kids yet, or a husbnad, for that matter...but I always love reading/learning from those that do. I LOVE how you want yours kids to be the beautiful godly people God has created them to be :) :) So wonderful..
On another note, that braided bread looked really yummy...I love bread. Do you have a recipe for that?
Have a lovely week. Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)
A lovely exhortation! I'm so glad God doesn't require us to be perfect or we'd all be sunk! Why then do we always require it of ourselves? I think that as Moms, who love and care for our charges so very much, we often place expectations so high that we can't even meet them ourselves. I have to be careful not to teach THIS to my girls along with all the good that I DO impart along the way. I keep telling myself that God will help me to do all that HE wants me to do today, not what I think is important. And even if I make a "mistake", He has that covered, too. His burden is easy and His yoke is light... GRACE. It grows sweeter every day!
Thanks for the reminder of what is important! I always enjoy the wisdom that you share.
God bless you
Renata:)
I love you!!!!!!!! You are so precious, Kathy!!!!! We school for the Lord! Period. If He puts something in our day where the things that we thought needed to be done aren't then we are content with that. IT is all about Him!!!!! . Helps that the honey is always here because of farming and such, but we believe we answer to the Lord not man. He is such a GRACE giver!!!!! You do such a sweetie job with your children. It says it all with your blog!
Hey I agree with Heather. I do have a braided bread recipe. Wonder if it is the same. Do you share??recipes? Yours looks wonderful. Love that precious little hand.
