...and I didn't accomplish anything today! Of course, that screams "Really? Are you sure?" Okay, perhaps it's better said that the Holy Spirit asked me those questions in the still, small voice that characterizes our God, and when re-evaluated I decided that many things were accomplished.
~Bible time was spent together this morning
~Words of encouragement were spoken
~Reminders of the truth in scripture were repeated
~Love was demonstrated
~Acts of service were done
~Admonishment was given
~Laughter was shared
~Playtime in the snow was fun with eachother
~Relationships were invested in
~Songs of praise were sung and enjoyed
I realized again, that I am so blessed and privileged to be together with my children all day long... to be a part of the great journey of their life...to witness in the growth and development of their character. To be a mother. To be their mother.
So what if my "projects" didn't advance today. Maybe there will be time tomorrow.
What did you do today that made your role worthwhile? Be deliberate as you reflect on that good thing that did get done and thank the Lord. It has far more value than any project will ever have.

I love your Mama's heart checklist :-) Sooo true too. So what if all the other things don't get done. They'll still be there in 20 yrs when our children are grown and gone. Investing in their lives NOW and looking INTO their eyes, SMILING down into their very being. That's what they need NOW :-)
Thanks for blessing me~ Cinnamon
Hmmm..nice post! Really makes you put that "to-do" list into perspective. :)
Dear Mrs Regan,
This is Lydia. I am really going to have to get myself an account one of these fine days. :)
I appreciated your post so much! I to, have what seems like, way too many days where I feel I haven't accomplished something "worthwhile" or done "enough" and while this isn't an excuse for wasting time, I probably would find, when taking stock as you did, that I really didn't "waste time" as much as I originally thought! There are those days when I think I could have used the time much more efficiently, yet most of those days have been very productive in other ways as you mentioned. I do praise my Great God for His goodness, grace, mercy and love! I thank God for allowing me to be a Mom and wife, teacher, nurse, creative arts director, adviser, career counselor, cook, homemaker, decorator, seamstress, encourager, writer, photographer, chorus/skit director, coordinator, curriculum planner and the list goes on and on!!!Isn't God Wonderful??!! Yes, we do need to be so thankful and notice what truly matters and is being accomplished each day.
God Bless you as you enjoy and celebrate your family. We are blessed!
In Christ,
Lydia
Some days I feel like I have truly failed God and my family because I feel like I have accomplished absolutely nothing, and I feel like I have not been "redeeming the time" like we are instructed to. But then your reminder is a good one - life does not advance through completed projects and huge accomplishments, but by the little things that are done to God's glory and the small investments into our children's lives and our husbands life. Thank you for the reminder.
Isn't it wonderful that when the Holy Spirit shows you what is really important...you see how much you have truly acomplished?
What a blessing it is to be a mom! Just like you said...to share this time in their lives, molding them, sharing the moments with them.
There is no other occupation I would want in the world. And yes, the projects will be there tomorrow :)
Blessings dear friend, your posts are so encouraging and uplifting!

I know there are days when my hubby comes home & asks, "What did you do today?" & I can't really say anything but, "I don't know, but I do know that I haven't sat down all day!" lol
But in thinking about it, as you did, you girls would be smiling, fed & blessed. To be a 'partner' w/the Lord in that process is more than enough.
Blessings from Ohio...Kim<><
Beautiful Mrs. Regan! Thank you for helping put things into the right perspective (many of us get caught up in the "look what DIDN'T get done" mode)! Blessings on you and your dear family!

Hi, I was just stopping by to say thank you for visiting my blog and entering my giveaway. I love the pictures on your sidebar over there. Especially the one of the person riding the pig, how funny!
Wonderful post~ I too feel this way many days as I look around and see so much that needs to be done. Thank you. When I feel this way I need to look into my heart and see my time with our family and the Lord.I have missed your blog. We have been very busy and I have only been on to add a quick post. Great to be visiting you today. Blessings Catherine
very true!! :) thank you!
I went to bed last night wondering if Jenna's mama had a blog. And woke up this morning wondering if Jenna's mama had a blog. And now I've found Jenna's mama's blog. The Lord has called our family away from the inner-city life and home to a farm. It is a whole new world, whole new walk with him. Your blog is refreshing, and really timely for me! Thanks for your part in the kingdom!
