The Famous Cinnamon Rolls!

If you've ever been at the farm for a Saturday morning, you may have been treated to the Famous Cinnamon Rolls .
For those of you that may never make it here, I'm sharing the recipe for you to enjoy with your family. It's more work than Pillsbury, but there is no comparison to that "down on the farm" taste...and the satisfaction of being able to bake something so delicious...well, I think it's a dying art! So have fun~your family will be so glad you did!
Regan Family Farm's Famous Cinnamon Rolls
Mix together in mixing bowl:
2 1/2 c. flour
1 T. yeast
Heat gently to 115-120 degrees:
1 c. milk
1/3 c. butter
1/3 c. sugar
1 t. salt
Add to flour mixture. Blend. then add:
3 slightly beaten farm fresh eggs
Mix well.
Add an additional 2 c. flour to make sticky but manageable dough. Mix for 6-7 minutes. Let rise until doubled.
While rising, mix the following:
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. flour
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 c. butter
1 peeled and finely chopped apple
When dough is finished rising, roll out on lightly floured surface into large rectangle. Spread with brown sugar mixture and sprinkle with apple.
Raisins and nuts are optional, though we never use them!
Roll the dough starting with the long edge, then cut into 12 or 16 pieces, depending on personal preference. Place in a greased 9x13" pan. Here is a trick for the greedy ones that always want the center: after cutting into pieces, take the end slices and place in the center two spots in the pan. I work my way out from there...no need to punish the people who end up with the corner rolls, as they get the most goo!
Cover and refrigerate for 2-24 hours. Uncover, and let sit for 30 minutes before baking. Bake at 350 degrees until golden, and I'm sorry to say, I go by sight and smell here. Just don't overbake! Rolls can be inverted after out of the oven for a minute or so, or served from the pan.
We make a buttercream frosting and spread when warm. Enjoy!

For all my dear friends who commented on my previous post, THANK YOU for your kind and helpful comments. Though my progress was interrupted due to another back injury, as of tonight I have given away four large bags of children's clothing and thrown a couple of unnecessary items out. More is on it's way!

Yummy! I love shared recipes! Thank you, they look delicious. Although I think it would be waaay more fun to have them on the farm, visting with you, over a cup of hot tea :-)

You did it!! I love giving away things. My husband says I give waaay too much away :-) Maybe that's why he's always checking the bags ready to go to the thrift store :-)

Happy New Year~ Cinnamon

Hello!!
Since Kelsey is the one who spends more time in the blog world than I do, I sometimes miss some of the good posts. I just tonight saw your post about organization. I loved it!!!! The reason I did? Because you sounded like me!! I am in a seeming constant state of "reorganizing". My sweet daughter is much better(Praise God!) at organizing than I am. I don't think it is so much that I am not good at organizing, I can do well at it, but, like you said, keeping down clutter, and for me, keeping up with eight children all doing different projects and homeschooling....YOU KNOW!:) I am blessed to have a wonderful sister who comes over now and then to help me. I have tried Emily Barnes methods and many others. The best one I have found is taking one room at a time and getting rid of everything that I haven't used in six months or more (except maybe seasonal things) and being ruthless! It is sooooo feeing when ever I do this. It takes time but once done you have a huge weight lifted and so much more enjoyment from the home and family. I also like to make our home a welcoming place. I think of our home as a place of education rather than a "showcase", although honestly, I do sometimes revert to that "showcase" thinking when having guests over. What helps me is when I visit other peoples homes. When I see clean, productive yet not "untouchable" homes I am comfortable. So I strive for that. Order is good, clean is good, but perfection and stress over it? NOT! It is a balance and work in progress. I think I am getting there. Being very organized and keeping "things" to the minimum really helps. Does a certain thing serve a useful purpose in the home? It is probably a keeper. If just adding to the feeling of disorder and clutter, it probably should go. I know it is not easy and I will pray for your conquering of the clutter giant! I don't know if I have said anything that helps or not. Storing things in boxes that fit underneath beds are helpful. Using baskets and boxes when storing things in closets helps. Keeping boxes labled, if stored in garage, is very helpful. Using shelves in bedrooms. Our oldest son Joshua is an incredible reader. He needed a place for all of his books. My husband put shelves up around his room all around near the ceiling. It looks a bit like a libray but it works. He has a bunkbed and shares with his brother so this keeps his things up and neatly in order. He has it very nicely done. This comment has been very long and I apologize! I would love to let my sister read your post and maybe she can send some ideas.
God Bless you and keep at it. You will get there and all the work is well worth it in the end.
In Christ,
