A Protective Atmosphere

Children and the home need the protection of a "religious" atmosphere, but according to the Andreola's, while catechism is essential teaching, it will not create atmosphere in itself. Quoting from the Parents' Review, M.F. Jerrold stated:

The test will be whether religion is the center of our life...the one eminently important thing for which all others have to give way...

Here's where I could use a good dose of encouragement...it is so easy for me to lose focus on the eternally important things in life and get lost in the day-to-day functions of the home and education. Will we make it through Algebra, but not the Bible? Will we know our math facts, but not our Savior? Will we love our things, but not eachother? This week I've had the opportunity to attend five funerals. How much time do I have left with my family? So I'm recommitting my time to invest in those things that will have eternal impact in my home and with my family.

Amen! Time is the only thing of true value. Stuff is just that, stuff. I love nothing better than sitting on the porch talking to my children about life and faith.

Five funerals in one week?! How terribly draining. You must be exhausted. Hang in there!
